on the backburner: that thing which holds so much more than it should!
Hey everyone!
As Thanksgiving approaches, I wanted to make sure to let all my followers (and lurkers!) know how very thankful I am that you continue to visit my blog and comment on my projects. It’s a crazy, humbling thing to know that somewhere out there, someone enjoys what you do for fun, a hobby that has turned into a passion.
As I’ve mentioned before, it’s been quiet around here since I’ve been focusing on redesigning my portfolio — something that is long overdue — and I’ve taken a short break from scrapping in the meantime. I do, however, have some news to share with you:
Featuring is a magazine started by Marit and, as she so cutely refers to him, her beloved, Marius, who serves as webmaster. As some of you may know, Marit is quite the talented mixed media artist, and she has taught art journaling workshops. Featuring will be taking her passion for all things mixed media, art journaling, etc. a step further by creating a quarterly publication that serves to inspire with artist interviews and a focus on their work.
I am beyond honored and thrilled to have been chosen as a member of the team; I can’t wait to begin working with the talented ladies who are a part of it, and Marit is such an inspiration that I will be beside myself with excitement for some time to come! I am looking forward to writing again. It’s been a long while since I’ve devoted a good chunk of my time to it, as I focused instead on visual art (hence, the title of this post), and I miss it! I’ve always loved writing; it’s a passion as intense as my love for scrapping and mixed media work!
The first issue, out in the spring of 2012, will be available for purchase only through the website, www.featuringmagazine.com — and yes, it will be a real, physical copy! [Edit: I was slightly confused regarding what the themes entail, but Marit was so kind as to clear it up for me (thank you!), so:] Each issue’s reader gallery will have a unique theme, and the first is “Applause.” You can find out more about submitting your work here. If you’re interested in getting your name out there, take a look at Inchies, which will be Featuring’s unique and creative take on advertising space.
That was quite the blog post, eh? For now, I’ve gotta get back to work before it’s time for Good Eats. Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers, and I’ll catch you guys soon!
