Better Living Through Scrapbooking November Challenge #3: Family Tradition

Create a layout about a family tradition, event, or something your family regularly does together that is not holiday related.

 Sponsored supplies used:
Cardstock: Discount Cardstock “Brilliant White 80# 12x12,” “Kraft Cardstock 80#
12x12,” “Translucent Red Vellum 27# 12x12”
Polymer clay buttons: Charlene’s Button Box “Tiny Silver Dot Buttons”
Paint: Plaid “Apple Barrel: Parrot Blue,” “Apple Barrel: Vanilla Ice Cream”
Adhesive: Plaid “Mod Podge: Paper,” “Mod Podge: Matte” Additional supplies used:
Papers & shipping tag: Lilybee Design “Audrey: Classy,” Gauche Alchemy “Acme Mixed Media Paper Crafting Kit;” Rub-ons: 7gypsies “Zanzibar: Word Rubbings;” Stickers: Studio Calico “Documentary: fabRips;” Watercolors: Prang; Other: Thread, transparency, ticket stubs Journaling:

Having an aunt who works @ the movies means we get to take advantage — lots of theater time! We are a fam who loves to see what all the fuss is about whenever a new movie comes out & it’s always fun to see things together. We go as often as we can. :)

 Chosen Criteria:

 2. Use paper or supplies on your page that are at least a year old.
 3. Use the word “tradition” in the title of your page.
 4. Use hidden journaling in your page design.

 Techniques:

I didn’t have any ready-made movie-themed supplies on hand but knew this layout would lack something without them, so I made my own! I doodled a vintage movie camera on kraft cardstock before stitching over it, and drew up and colored in some popcorn pieces on white cardstock by using watercolors.

After distressing the shipping tag, the tear at the top inspired me to create a little pocket for red vellum stars by sandwiching the tag between two scrap pieces of transparency.

Wanting to use more of one of my favorite supplies, fabRips, I hand-cut the word “movies” out of a red strip, as well as slicing a yellow one apart to use as decorative tape.
