More info about my last go at a Better Scrap project + techniques under the cut!
Almost all of us have them… that group of photographs that we’ve been meaning to scrapbook but just haven’t gotten “Round Tuit”. You probably have a variety of reasons you haven’t scrapped those photographs yet, perhaps you haven’t found the right paper, embellishments, you lack inspiration or just haven’t found the time. Whatever the reason, close your eyes (no peeking!) and pull out one photograph (or more if you are exceptionally brave) from the pile. Consider this the moment you finally got “Round TUIT” and scrap that photo(s).

Journaling:
Why haven’t I scrapped B. in Chicago sooner? That was such a good day! This is my fave pic of her. I guess I was more focused on events, but people make up memories, too.
Chosen Criteria:
1. On your layout, journal about the reasons why you haven’t gotten around to scrapbooking this photograph yet.
4. Use at least two different color cardstocks or patterned papers on your page.
5. Use products on your layout that are at least six months old, that you haven’t gotten around to using before now.
Techniques:
Ready for something random? I sure was! This spur-of-the-moment layout allowed me to focus on just creating, with no rights or wrongs attached. I had a general idea of where I wanted to place my photo, title, and journaling, but other than that, nothing was set in stone, and I let my creative intuition guide me. I randomly applied paint, tore images from the cute Sassafras paper and cut them apart however I saw fit, and slapped down borders at angles instead of completely straight. So, next time you’re in the mood for something different… Try a random approach! I highly recommend it. :)
I doodled the Lipstick cardstock frame for my photo by hand, but wasn’t satisfied with how big it was, so I cut the frame in half, flipped the side I liked best, traced it, and cut out a matching side to adhere to another hand-cut frame, this one made out of Eggplant Felt cardstock. I then stitched the frame and photo to the Brilliant White cardstock background — which was not so white after I’d applied Vanilla Ice Cream and School Bus paint!
The only thing stitched on this layout is its centerpiece, the pink and purple frame. The rest of the lines are all doodled! The doodles allow the various monsters, as well as my title and journaling, to connect, creating movement and coherency. Once again, I just doodled to my heart’s content — no penciling anything in first. I just let go. And you know what? I love the result.
